TELEVISION

This 28 minute interview with Jane Hutcheon on the ABC’s One Plus One was recorded for the launch of the new edition of Sinning Across Spain, but roamed across my whole life. It surprised me – and undid me. Jane creates a kind of confessional space. I learned a lot.

I was interviewed – along with priests, a prisoner, a therapist and some Free Listeners – for this thoughtful and fair-handed episode of Compass called I Confess. It raises a lot of great questions about our need to tell and our need to be heard.

PODCASTS AND AUDIO

I love radio, and have been incredibly fortunate to be invited onto some brilliant shows with searching hosts. Here is a selection…

Our first interview about The Attachment was with the thoughtful Amanda Smith on ABC Radio National’s Life Matters – I can’t think of a better way to describe our book!

And here we chat unlikely friendships with the brilliant Richard Glover on ABC Sydney – a joy.

A longer and more laid back chat for ABC’s Nightlife can be found on this link.

I spoke to Cheryl Akle at Better Reading about life, love, loss and writing. Link here.

Dan Mullins is a questing soul! He has a podcast called My Camino, and spoke to me about the updated version of Sinning Across Spain, and walking through grief. You can hear that by clicking here. Earlier, I recorded a conversation with Tony Doherty and Dan about our unlikely friendship. If you want to hear that triple bill, just click here.

Listen to a conversation with Rachael Kohn and Tony Doherty on The Spirit of Things. It was recorded back when we were just starting to work on The Attachment.

A very rich, full broadcast on pilgrimage can be found here on the ABC’s God Forbid programme. I am the Voice In The Wilderness! What else?

Gary Bryson, a lifetime atheist, asks whether he has “missed out” on something. One of the people he quizzed was me! Our conversation took place out on South Head at the entrance to Sydney Harbour – a place of deep meaning for me. Listen to the podcast.

I was on Radio National’s Blueprint for Living in their Spirit of Place segment, talking to Sian Prior, author of the exquisite memoir Shy. Listen to the podcast.

Take a minute to listen to this amazing programme on BBC radio. Soul Music features the song Gracias A La Vida, and the way it connected and affected people all over the world. My story is a part of it. Such a graced opportunity to give thanks for a legendary artist’s work.

Amanda Smith, producer of The Body Sphere on Radio National, made a wonderful programme about walking. You will LOVE baby’s first steps! And you might recognise the pilgrim voice at the beginning and end of the show. Listen to the podcast.

The Sinning Across Spain episode of Poetica, which was one of my all-time favourite ABC radio shows.

Caro Ryan is a walking woman. This interview with her was a joy.

This session from the 2017 Byron Bay writers festival was incredibly moving and we felt privileged to take part. Hope you enjoy it. Deng Adut is remarkable.

A celebration of my friendship with the astounding Kat Stewart. The Truth About Us is a Foxtel programme about double acts and mentorship and… well, love. I was privileged to be a part of it.

An extended conversation I had with Tony Doherty, which is referenced in the text of The Attachment. It runs for about 100 minutes, and includes the introduction and audience questions.
